Get to know Monika

Monika Baumann

is first and foremost a person with a lot of energy and a big heart, but also:

  • a Clinical & Health Psychologist
  • a Systemic Family Therapist registered with the Austrian Federal Ministry
  • a registered child and youth psychotherapist
  • an International Brainspotting Senior Trainer/Supervisor and Head of Brainspotting Austria

"Transforming burdens - whether recent or from the past - in people's everyday lives
into a positive part of their life story,
that is my professional mission!"

Her background is in neuro- learning psychology and this wealth of experience is an important basis for her work today. Monika first came into contact with Brainspotting during her work in a social project. Convinced of the method and its effectiveness, she specialized more and more in Brainspotting with emotional stress and trauma.

She works with every age group. To date, Monika's youngest Brainspotting client was a six-week-old baby and her oldest was over 80 years old. Brainspotting is suitable both as a short-term intervention (2-5 sessions) and integrated into long, ongoing therapy. She has had countless positive experiences with both.

Monika loves working with children and adolescents, and it was her who - together with her colleague from the USA, Martha S. Jacobi - conceived the training Brainspotting with Children and Adolescents. In 2020 she compiled her knowledge in a book ("Brainspotting with Children and Adolescents: An attuned treatment approach for effective brain-body healing"). You can find the book in the publications section.

Furthermore, she is always active in development aid projects, which - for family reasons - have been centered in Paraguay, but thanks to the CrocoDuck, new European countries are now also moving into the focus of the social project. A training course in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for example, is currently in the planning stage.
