First and foremost, Monika is a person with a great deal of energy and heart, but she is also:

• a Clinical psychologist & health psychologist
• a Systemic family therapist registered with the Austrian Federal Ministry
• a child and adolescent psychotherapist
• an International Brainspotting Senior Trainer/Consultant and
• the director of Brainspotting Austria/Germany

Her background in neuropsychology and learning psychology provides an important foundation for her current work. Monika Baumann first encountered Brainspotting while working on a community project. Convinced of the method’s effectiveness, she increasingly specialized in using Brainspotting to address emotional distress and trauma.

She works with people of all ages. To date, Mag. Baumann’s youngest Brainspotting client has been a six-week-old baby, and her oldest has been over 80 years old. Brainspotting is suitable both as a short-term intervention (2–5 sessions) and as part of long-term, ongoing therapy. She has had countless positive experiences with both approaches.

Monika Baumann enjoys working with children and adolescents, and it was she—together with her colleague from the U.S., Martha S. Jacobi—who developed the Brainspotting with Children training. In 2020, she compiled her knowledge on the subject into a book and published it (“Brainspotting with Children and Adolescents: An Attuned Treatment Approach for Effective Brain-Body Healing”). You can find the book in the Publications section (Veröffentlichungen) on this website. She has since revised it and expanded it to include a general section on Brainspotting. The expert book “Brainspotting / Belastungen verarbeiten – Selbstheilungskräfte unterstützen mit Kindern, Jugendlichen und jüngeren inneren Anteilen” was published in German by Carl Auer Verlag in 2023.

In addition, she is regularly involved in humanitarian projects that—for family reasons—have been centered in Paraguay, but thanks to CrocoDucks, new European countries are now also coming into focus for this charity project. For example, she helped establish the Brainspotting Help aid project and, through it, provides ongoing support to people affected by wars and disasters.
